Smarter Water Metering and Valve Control with WANTAI Photoelectric Direct-Reading Technology
As water metering management continues to move toward centralized and remote operation,
reliable meter reading and convenient valve control have become increasingly important.
WANTAI’s
Photoelectric Direct-Reading Valve-Controlled Water Meter
combines direct-reading technology, remote transmission and valve control in one water metering product,
providing a practical option for modern water management applications.
The product is an impeller-type, multi-jet, liquid-sealed photoelectric direct-reading
remote-transmitting water meter. Its design complies with the technical requirements of
standards including GB/T 778-2018, CJ/T 188-2004, CJ/T 244-2012 and DL/T 645-2007.
Direct Reading Without Secondary Metering
A key feature of this water meter is its photoelectric direct-reading technology.
The system reads the displayed value directly from the meter window without requiring
a secondary metering process. This approach avoids accumulated errors associated with
secondary counting.
The meter also uses four-digit wheel true direct-reading technology. It directly identifies
the numbers on the four-digit character-wheel code disc, reducing reading errors that may
occur when software is used to determine the position of the thousands digit wheel.
Reliable Reading in Pipeline Conditions
Pipeline vibration and water hammer pressure can affect meter-reading conditions.
To address this, the Photoelectric Direct-Reading Valve-Controlled Water Meter adopts
hysteresis sampling technology to help reduce errors caused by these factors.
The system can also automatically detect characteristic parameters of photoelectric devices.
If a photoelectric device is damaged, the meter can detect and report the fault and stop
identifying the current meter reading, helping prevent incorrect readings caused by
photoelectric device failure.
Flexible Local and Remote Meter Reading
The product supports two meter-reading methods. Water management personnel can carry out
on-site centralized reading through a handheld meter-reading terminal, while the system
also supports remote automatic meter reading.
M-Bus technology is available for communication. The meter uses bus power and is powered
by a concentrator or handheld meter reader during meter reading, supporting low-power operation.
For different system requirements, the product supports M-Bus and RS-485 interfaces.
Optional communication baud rates include 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 bps, with a specified
maximum communication transmission distance of 1000 meters.
Integrated Valve Control for Water Management
In addition to meter reading, this model incorporates valve-control capability.
By configuring a valve and electronic control device outside the meter, valve opening
and closing can be operated through either an on-site handheld terminal or remote commands.
This configuration also supports the implementation of prepaid metering functions described
in the product documentation.
The available nominal diameters are 15 mm, 20 mm and 25 mm. The meter is rated Class 2
for accuracy, uses a copper meter body and has an IP68 protection rating.
